You can create TrueCopy replication pairs for a server cluster system configuration.

  • Verify that there is a physical connection between the primary storage system and the secondary storage system.
  • Verify that the primary storage system and the secondary storage system are onboarded to a UCP system.
  • Prepare the secondary pool information that you want this pair to have.
  • Verify that host groups are created on the primary site storage system for the primary site host and the secondary site storage system for the secondary site host.
  • Verify that both the primary and secondary storage systems have a TrueCopy license.
  • Verify that a primary logical unit (P-VOL) is presented to one or more hosts or host groups.
  1. Browse to the storage system where you want to create a TrueCopy pair.
  2. Select either:
    • Datastores: From the Action menu of the datastore (P-VOL) that you want to replicate, select Enable TrueCopy Replication.
    • Replication Pairs: Click Create True Copy.
  3. Under Create TrueCopy, enter the configuration details.
Note: You can also click View TrueCopy configuration or you can click View Fence Level descriptions.

  4. Enter the primary volume (P-VOL) information. The P-VOL is preselected if you enabled replication of the datastore in the Datastore inventory.
  5. Enter the fence level. Possible values: NEVER, DATA, STATUS
  6. Select a secondary system.
  7. Select the secondary storage.
  8. Select the secondary storage pool. UCP Advisor will create a secondary volume in that pool.
  9. Select a secondary server option. You will find the host group on the secondary storage system. Possible options: Server, WWN.
    • If you select Server, select one or more servers from the Secondary Server list, and then from Host Groups, select one or more host groups associated with that server.
    • If you select WWN, enter one or more WWNs (separate the WWNs by commas), and then select one or more secondary host groups.
  10. Select a consistency group option:
    • No consistency group ID
    • New
    • Existing: select this option to display the consistency group ID.
  11. Click Submit.
The action creates the TrueCopy pair. You can check the status from the Tasks console. UCP Advisor creates the secondary volume on the secondary storage and presents the volume to the selected host groups. A path is created between the S-VOL and the secondary server, and a TrueCopy pairing is then created between the P-VOL on the primary storage and the S-VOL on the secondary storage.

After a TrueCopy replication pair is created, you can view and manage it. See Managing replication pairs.
