You can create parity groups to allocate system volumes to ESXi hosts and delete parity groups to free up disk space when the disks in the parity group are no longer in use. You can also add or remove them from resource groups.
Note: Parity groups are not supported for VSP 5000 series storage systems.
To view the parity groups on a storage system:
- Browse to the storage system where you want to view parity groups.
- Select Parity Groups. Tip: Use the Filter icon to filter the list, as well as sort it by column. Use the Refresh icon to refresh the information.
The parity groups inventory lists all existing parity groups, with information such as the number of logical units in each, the allocated, free, and total capacity, and the resource group ID.
The following information is displayed in the parity group inventory:
- Parity Group
- The name of the parity group.
- Number of Logical Units
- The number of logical units in the parity group.
- Allocated Capacity
- The amount of allocated space in the parity group.
- Free Capacity
- The amount of available space remaining in the parity group.
- Total Capacity
- The total used and free space in the parity group.
- Resource Group
- The ID of the resource group.
- Accelerated Compression
- The accelerated compression status for the parity group.
- Drive Type
- The drive type of the parity group.
- Encryption
- The encryption status for the parity group.
- CopyBack
- The CopyBack status of the parity group.
