  3. Select the I/O discovery method: Parallel or Sequential. The default selection is Parallel, but if you do not want service to be interrupted, choose to discover the I/O cards sequentially.
Note: For parallel I/O card discovery, it is recommended that you select ten or fewer servers per batch. The I/O card discovery is run on ten servers per batch.
  4. Enter Submit, and then click Submit.

The I/O discovery process starts and the selected servers are placed in Maintenance mode and temporarily powered off. After the I/O cards are discovered, the servers are powered on and removed from Maintenance mode.

Before discovering the I/O cards, the BMC is reset, which will take at least ten minutes to complete.

You can monitor the status of the discovery process on the Tasks console.

Note: When I/O card discovery is sequentially initiated for multiple servers, some I/O card discovery tasks for a subsequent server might start before the task for the previous server has completed.
Important: Running the I/O card discovery operation for more than ten servers at a time might cause the operation for some servers to time out before completing. If the operation does time out, the following message is displayed on the UCP Advisor Tasks console - Card discovery on server <xxx> has been queued and will be processed after discovery requests currently in progress are completed. Wait a few hours before trying the operation again with fewer than ten servers. The I/O card discovery operation takes about 90 minutes or more to complete.
All discovered I/O cards are displayed on the I/O Cards tab for each server, respectively.
