The following is an example of how to add to the collection targets a volume that was added to an SMS storage group that is specified as a collection target.

In this example, a volume that was added to the SMS storage group (SG002) is added to the collection targets when the SMS storage group (SG002) is specified as a collection target.

  • Adding a volume to the SMS storage group (SG002)
  • Placing the volumes belonging to the SMS storage group (SG002) online
  1. Execute the disk configuration acquisition program to update the disk configuration for the SMS storage group (SG002) to which the volume was added.
    • Parameters input from the SYSIN:
      PREFIX(USER01)
      STORGRP(SG002)

The information about the SMS storage group (SG002) in the disk configuration definition file (USER01.DSK.SN53038.LOCAL) is updated, and the information about the added volume is added to the disk configuration definition file.
  2. Use the REFRESH command to update the metric collection environment.
    F RS1,RE
Changes to the metric collection environment are applied from the next interval after metric collection for the current interval finishes.
Tip: Because the SMS storage group information in the disk configuration definition file was updated, information about the volume that was added to the SMS storage group will be collected even if you do not change the settings of the metric collection parameters.
