Metric collection intervals are the intervals between when MAR periodically collects metric information from the storage system.

To specify metric collection intervals, specify both the synchronization time and interval values. The synchronization time is the minute of each hour at which collection starts. The synchronization time is the initial time for collection in an hour, and information is collected at each interval. The metric collection time is determined by both the synchronization time and intervals. For example, assuming that the synchronization time is specified as 0 and the intervals are 15 minutes, performance information is collected at 0 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 45 minutes of each hour.

In addition, if you use the SMF global recording interval as the metric collection intervals, the synchronization time and intervals are the same as for the system specifications. The SMF global recording interval is used to simultaneously output SMF records for each program in the system. When the SMF global recording interval is used, the time at which MAR collects storage performance information matches the time when SMF collects host performance information (such as the CPU usage). As a result, more accurate analysis becomes possible.
