To expand the capacity of a Replication pair volume, expand the capacity of the volumes in the secondary site and the primary site in order.

  • The difference management method of the storage system must be a hierarchical difference management.

For details on how to set the system option mode, see the Universal Replicator User Guide or the TrueCopy® User Guide . Specify the setting for the storage systems at both the primary site and the secondary site.

Note: The system option mode setting affects all remote copy pairs in the storage system. For details on the impact of changing this setting, see the documentation for the storage system you are using.
  • If you want to expand a Replication volume that was created before changing the difference management method to a hierarchical difference management, perform the procedures described in Splitting a TrueCopy pair or Universal Replicator pair and Resynchronizing a TrueCopy pair or Universal Replicator pair before proceeding to the following procedure.

  1. Perform the procedure described in Splitting a TrueCopy pair or Universal Replicator pair.
  2. Expand the volume in the secondary site. For details, see the Hitachi Storage Plug-in for Containers Installation and User Guide.
Note: After expansion, the capacity of the volumes must be the same in the primary and secondary sites.
  3. Expand the volume in the primary site. For details, see the Hitachi Storage Plug-in for Containers Installation and User Guide.
Note: After expansion, the capacity of the volumes must be the same in the primary and secondary sites.
  4. Perform the procedure described in Resynchronizing a TrueCopy pair or Universal Replicator pair.
