Configure a VMware vCenter hypervisor in the Commvault Command Center (Command Center) by registering the vCenter, assigning MediaAgent access nodes as VSA proxies, creating a VM group with selected virtual machines, associating it with the target cloud library, and initiating a full backup.

  1. In the Command Center, navigate to Protect > Virtualization > Hypervisor, select VMware vCenter, then click Next.
  2. In the Configure VMware vCenter Hypervisor page, under the Add Hypervisor section, complete the following information.
    • In the vCenter server name field, type the IP address or hostname of the vCenter.
    • In the Hypervisor display name field, type the display name.
    • In the Credential field, type the username and password required to access the vCenter.
    • From the Access nodes list, select one or more media agent servers with the VSA agent installed to add as a VSA Proxy.

  3. In the Add VM Group section, complete the following information.
    • From the Add list, select Content.

    • Expand the Datacenter and select the VMs to be backed up.

  4. In the Summary section, from the Plan list, select the associated target cloud library, and then click Submit.

  5. Navigate to Protect > Virtualization > VM group, select the associated vmgroup (Testgroup in this example), and select the Backup type as Full, and then click Submit.
