System requirements

• The Volume Migration license installed.
• The system option modes (SOMs) on the storage systems must be configured before you start migration activities. For details, see System option mode (SOM) settings.
• The management PC hosting the embedded user interfaces must be LAN-attached to the storage system.

• Managed by the same storage system, even if the volumes are external volumes.
• Same emulation type.
• Same capacity, in blocks for open-systems volumes and in cylinders for mainframe volumes.

  If you view the volume capacity in bytes, a slight difference in capacity between the source and target volumes might not be indicated.

• Same setting in the T10 PI attribute.
• Specified by LDEV ID, not VOLSER or TID/LUN.
• When an encrypted source volume is migrated, you should enable encryption on the target volume to protect the migrated data.
