You can use TrueCopy for Mainframe to migrate data from one storage system to another.
You do not need to use host migration software for data migration when using TrueCopy for Mainframe. Also, TrueCopy for Mainframe data migration does not affect the host.
TrueCopy for Mainframe operations within one storage system can be performed only if the ShadowImage for Mainframe option is not active on the storage system. If you are migrating data between storage systems using P/DAS, both storage systems must be the same type. For example, migration from VSP 5000 series to VSP One Block 85 using P/DAS is not supported.
In data migration, the entire contents of a volume are copied to the secondary volume (P-VOL to S-VOL). The volumes are identical when the initial copy operation completes. You can then release the volumes from the TrueCopy for Mainframe pair.
