The storage system generates service information messages (SIMs) to identify normal operations (for example, pair status changes) as well as service requirements and errors or failures. SIMs are logged in the storage system, reported to the management client, and reported to the hosts (in which the SIMs are logged in the SYS1.LOGREC dataset of the host OS). In addition, the Hitachi Remote Ops maintenance tool reports all SIMs to Hitachi Vantara customer support.
