When you restore SIz pairs, data is copied from the S-VOL to the P-VOL.

Restoring split pairs typically takes less time than restoring suspended pairs (PSUE/SUSPER status). Split pairs typically contain much less accumulated differential data than the total amount of data in the P-VOL.

You can perform a Reverse Copy or Quick Restore operation to restore a pair. The Reverse Copy operation requires time to check if differential data exists even if there is no differential data. The amount of time to check for differential data takes longer as the volume capacity increases, and it might take 10 minutes or more for 256 TB.

If you plan to restore pairs using Reverse Copy, split or suspend the pairs sharing the same P-VOL.

If the SIz pair you plan to restore shares a volume with TCz or URz, suspend the TCz or URz pair first.

Complete the following steps to restore SIz pairs that are split or suspended:

  1. Place the P-VOLs offline.
  2. (Optional) If host I/O performance is prioritized, make sure the I/O load is light before restoring pairs.
  3. Restore the pairs.
