Use the following workflow to create a ShadowImage for Mainframe pair.
- Review the considerations for creating pairs.
For details, see Considerations for creating ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs.
- Identify the volumes that will become the primary volume (P-VOL) and secondary volume (S-VOL) of the pair.
You can assign up to three S-VOLs to a single P-VOL.
- If you are managing groups of pairs in consistency groups (CTGs), identify the CTG to which you will assign the pair.
- To assign ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs to a new CTG, specify a CTG ID that is not already in use when you create the pairs.
- To assign ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs to an existing CTG, specify the CTG ID for the target CTG when you create the pairs.
CTG IDs 00 to 7F (0 to 127) are used for SI, SIz, and Thin Image Advanced.
- If the volumes are already part of other replication pairs, for example, Compatible FlashCopy® or TrueCopy for Mainframe, check the pair status of the volumes to make sure the SIz pair create operation is supported.
For details, see Sharing ShadowImage for Mainframe volumes with other software applications.
- Create the pair to start the initial copy operation.
You can use BCM (YKMAKE), IBM® PPRC (CESTPAIR, PPRCOPY ESTPAIR), or CCI (paircreate) to create a ShadowImage for Mainframe pair.
Follow the instructions for creating a pair in the applicable user guide, for example, Hitachi Business Continuity Manager User Guide.
