When bringing a channel path online using Fibre Channel Endpoint Security for Mainframe, it might take longer to complete the channel path online process than when Fibre Channel Endpoint Security for Mainframe is not used.
For this reason, when using Fibre Channel Endpoint Security for Mainframe, set the Missing interrupt handler (MIH) timer value for the device to one minute or longer.
After the channel path is brought online, it is acceptable to change the MIH timer value to less than one minute.
If the MIH timer value cannot be set to one minute or longer, the message "IOS071I *MASTER*, START PENDING" might be output when bringing the host path online, and then the channel path for the device indicated in the message might be in the status of LOGICALLY OFF, PHYSICALLY ON.

If the message "IOS071I *MASTER*, START PENDING" is output when the channel path is brought online, use the following procedure to bring the channel path online. For more information about the commands used during the procedure for bringing the channel path online, see the IBM® documentation.
