Reserve Transfer includes the following features. For the configuration and restrictions regarding TPC-R/CSM and GDPS, see the IBM ®publications. When the DKCMAIN microcode version is A0-05-41-xx/xx or later, the Reserve Transfer function is supported.
To use the following features, enable Reserve Transfer by using the raidcom modify mainframe_system_function command in CCI or VSP One Block Administrator. If you want to use CCI, see the Command Control Interface Command Reference. If you want to use VSP One Block Administrator, see the VSP One Block Administrator Guide.
- Transfer of the reserve status from an old P-VOL to a new P-VOL used in TrueCopy for Mainframe when running TPC-R/CSM Basic HyperSwap function or GDPS HyperSwap function
- The Soft Fence settings (HyperSwap-specific Soft Fence) when running the TPC-R/CSM Basic HyperSwap function or GDPS HyperSwap function
- The reserve settings and reserve release by using the host command for an S-VOL used in a TrueCopy for Mainframe pair
- The Soft Fence settings by using the host command from a P-VOL to an S-VOL used in a TrueCopy for Mainframe pair
Enabling and disabling Reserve Transfer
- f you perform a volatile startup of the storage system (such as a forced volatile power-off of the DKC and DKU, power-on from a volatile power-off, or offline microprogram exchange), this setting becomes disabled. You must re-enable the setting after the volatile startup.
- If the ReserveTransfer function setting on the TPC-R/CSM or GDPS side is enabled, do not disable the Reserve Transfer setting on the storage system. The Basic HyperSwap function of TPC-R/CSM or the HyperSwap function of GDPS might become unavailable.
