Use this procedure to add CBX pairs by migrating partial data to a different pool.

  1. Add a CBX pair.


  2. Add parity groups PG1 and PG2.
  3. Categorize DP-VOLs in Pool 1 per operation.
  4. Determine the operation performed in each CBX pair so that the load is equalized on each CBX pair after expansion.
  5. Add CBX pair 2.


  6. Add parity groups PG3 and PG2 to CBX pair 2.
  7. Create Pool 2.
  8. Change the MP unit of DP-VOL 2 used by CBX pair 2 operations to the MP unit in CBX pair 2.


  9. Migrate data from Pool 1 to Pool 2 using Volume Migration.


    Note: During the operations by using Volume Migration, I/O operations to DP-VOL 2 in the additional CBX pair cause data transfer to CBX pair 1, including pages, and then increase the total load on the storage system.
