The following table shows the emulation types supported in mainframe systems. Emulation types are classified into several emulation groups. Logical devices with emulation types belonging to different emulation groups cannot coexist within each range of 32 consecutive LDEV numbers.
For example, logical devices with emulation types belonging to different emulation groups cannot coexist within each range of 32 consecutive LDEV numbers, such as LDEV numbers 0–31, 32–63, and others.
In addition, emulation types for open systems and the following emulation types also cannot coexist within each range of 32 consecutive LDEV numbers.
