The Virtual LVI function on the VSP One Block 85 storage system is used to create, configure, and delete custom-size volumes.
Use Virtual LVI to create logical volumes (CVs) of any size in a parity group. When multiple frequently accessed files reside on the same logical volume, accessing one file might cause accesses to other files to be delayed. By using Virtual LVI to split the logical volume and distribute the files, you can reduce access contention and improve data access performance.
To create a CV, first convert one or more existing CVs in the parity group into free space using the LDEV deletion function. Next, using the LDEV creation function, create a CV of any desired size in the newly created space.
