The person who configures the system must verify that a Fiber Channel board for correct Fiber Channel is installed on each host, and then check the WWN of the host bus adapter (HBA) for the host. The WWN must be entered in the CCI command, therefore make sure to write the WWN down so it is not forgotten.
When the HBA is replaced, the LU path and LUN security settings remain unchanged for the new HBA. To protect the data, do not remove LUN security at the HBA replacement.
If the HBA on the host side is replaced after setting the LU path, the WWN of the HBA displayed in LUN Manager is not automatically changed. Therefore, the WWN setting must be changed by using LUN Manager after replacing the HBA.
If the new HBA is connected to multiple Fibre Channel ports, the configuration changes also apply to the different ports, but not to the following ports:
- LUN security is disabled.
- There is already a HBA whose nickname is the same as the one changed.
You can assign a nickname to the HBA on the host location or owner. Assigning a nickname makes it easier to identify the HBA by using the CCI command. Although the WWN is also used to identify each HBA by using the CCI command, the nickname that you assign based on the host owner and so on is more helpful than WWN (16 hexadecimal digits).
