Do not assign an access attribute to a volume if any job that handles data on the volume is running. If you assign an access attribute to such a volume, the job might end abnormally.

When the expiration lock is enabled, all volumes with the read-only and protect attributes cannot be changed to the read/write attribute even if the prohibition period for changing to the read/write attribute has elapsed. This setting applies to all volumes with the read-only and protect attributes on the storage system, not to each volume.

Prerequisites for changing the access attribute to read-only or protect :

  • Volume that is not available

  • Volume that is configured as a command device
  • TrueCopy S-VOL*
  • Universal Replicator S-VOL* or journal volumes
  • ShadowImage S-VOL*
  • Pool volume
  • Deduplication system data volume

*The access attribute of the S-VOL might be changed depending on the pair status. For more information, see the user guide for the software product.

Prerequisites for changing the access attribute from read-only or protect to read/write:

  • Verify that the prohibition period for changing to the read/write is prohibited has elapsed. If elapsed, R-Time in raidvchkdsp displays 0. To change the access attribute from read-only or protect to read/write within the change prohibition period, contact customer support.
  • If EXP_LOCK in raidcom get system -key dru is ENABLED, changing the access attribute to read/write is restricted. Contact the administrator of your storage system to ask if you can change the access attribute to read/write.
