If a failure occurs while a relationship is being created (including when Remote FlashCopy® or Preserve Mirror FlashCopy® is running), the Establish command might end abnormally. The command might end with a host message and SSB or the command might end with Interface Control Check or CHANNELDETECTED ERROR.
If the following host message and SSB appear, there is no problem in the Compatible FlashCopy® data because the relationship was created normally. The SSB and host message vary as follows, depending on whether the relationship to be created was established by the Incremental FlashCopy® function.
- When the relationship was not established by the Incremental FlashCopy® function: EC=9604:ANTF0414E “FLASHCOPY ESTABLISH TARGET TRACK IS AN ACTIVE TARGET TRACK”
- When the relationship was established by the Incremental FlashCopy® function: EC=96B6:ANTF0447E “FLASHCOPY ESTABLISH DEVICE XXXX IS IN AN INVALID STATE” (XXXX indicates the device address.)
-
If you see one of the SSB and host messages, do one of the following to recover
the error.
Option Action In NOCOPY mode No recovery operation is needed. In COPY mode If a background copy is running, no recovery operation is needed. In Copy mode If no background copy is running, run the Withdraw command with DDSW(YES) specified to run a background copy. -
If you have an Interface Control Check or CHANNELDETECTED ERROR error, perform
the following steps to recover the error.
- Run the FC QUERY command to check whether the relationship remains.
- Run the Withdraw command with DDSW(NO) specified to forcibly delete the relationship.
- Run the Establish command.
