When you start the SMS dataset copy job from a utility tool or an application running on the IBM® mainframe OS, the job includes the operations that depend on the IBM® DS8000® series architecture. When you use a Hitachi storage system, those operations are irrelevant to the SMS dataset copying performed on the mainframe host and they might prolong the processing time.
By setting the parameter, you can reduce the job processing time. Before you set the parameter, make sure that you set the APAR number OA59041 for the host OS. For details, see the IBM® documentation.
To suppress the unneeded operations, perform one of the following operations
to set the applicable value to the relevant OS parameter.
