If the Lockout Mode option in the user account security policies is set to Lock Account, a user account is locked for a specified period when the number of failed login attempts exceeds the specified maximum number of failed login attempts.

To unlock a locked user account, you must change the password of the user. Use the following procedure to change the password of a user whose account is locked due to failed login attempts.

  • You must have the Security Administrator (View & Modify) role to perform this task.
  1. Log in to the maintenance utility.
  2. Select Administration > User Administration.
  3. In the User Groups list, select the user group containing the user whose account is locked.
  4. In the Users tab, select the user account that is locked, and then click Edit.
  5. In the Edit User dialog box, enter the new password in the New Password and Re-enter Password fields.
Note: The new password must comply with the password policies.
  6. Confirm the settings, and then click Finish.
  7. If a warning message appears, click OK.
  8. When the confirmation message appears, click Apply.
  9. When the completion message appears, click Close.
