General troubleshooting for Export Tool 2

Collection of performance information

When the following conditions occur, performance information is not recorded:

• From storage-system power switch OFF to shutdown completion
• From storage-system power switch ON to startup completion
• During online firmware replacement
• When all CTLs (controllers) or all CFMMs (cache flash memory modules) are blocked
  Note: When a CTL or CFMM is replaced, the performance information of the corresponding CTL is initialized. However, since performance information is stored in all CTLs, some CTLs or CFMMs are retained in the CTLs that have not been replaced. If maintenance involves replacing all CTLs or all CFMMs, no performance information remains. If performance information is required, collect it before CTL or CFMM replacement.

Maintenance work

When the following maintenance work is performed, incorrect performance information might be output, performance information might not be collected normally, or collection of performance information might take time:

• Replacing cache memory
• Adding, replacing, or removing drives
• Chaging system configuration
• Replacing firmware
• Replacing controller
• Collecting dump information

User operations

When the following user operations are performed, incorrect performance information might be output, performance information might not be collected normally, or collection of performance information might take time:

• Formatting LDEVs
• Exporting audit logs
• Starting multiple instances of Export Tool 2
• Collecting dump information

User names and passwords

If you encounter errors displayed at the command prompt when running Export Tool 2, review the following restrictions for user names and passwords to ensure that they are specified correctly.

Example of errors:

• Incorrect usage of "<".
• ''' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file.
• The syntax of the file name, directory name, or volume label is incorrect.

When specifying the user name and password instead of using interactive mode, note the following:

• If the user name contains the characters &^=|, enclose it in double quotation marks (").
• If the password contains the characters &^,;<=>|", enclose it in double quotation marks (").
• If the password contains a double quotation mark ("), add an additional double quotation mark ("). For example, if the password is "au"to&pass"wo&rd", enter the following:

runWin2.bat export data -ip 192.168.0.100 -login autouser
"au""to&pass""wo&rd"

In this example, a double quotation mark (") is added to the existing double quotation mark (") within the password.
