When using Export Tool 2 to transfer monitoring data stored in ESM to a PC or other devices, SSL communication is recommended. By using SSL communication, the transferred data is encrypted, enhancing the security of the communication.
Additionally, if you have updated the certificate for ESM, you can verify the destination’s authenticity by registering the ESM root certificate with Export Tool 2. This verification can be enabled or disabled as needed. If verification fails when enabled, Export Tool 2 will halt its operation. If verification is disabled, Export Tool 2 will not perform certificate verification.
For certificate requirements, refer to "SSL/TLS communication between the storage system and management tool client" in the System Administrator Guide. If you are unsure whether the certificate meets the requirements, confirm with your security administrator whether the web server certificate uploaded to the storage system satisfies the requirements .
- The maximum number of levels in the certificate chain to be verified is 20. Use certificates with a chain of 20 levels or fewer.
- If a required root certificate of the ESM has not been imported, an error will occur and Export Tool 2 will halt its operation.
- When "ignore" is specified with the "-security" command parameter during the execution of Export Tool 2, certificate validation will be skipped. However, this is not recommended.
