You create user accounts to distribute the tasks of monitoring, maintaining, and administering the storage system to others. You can create a user and assign that user to one or more of the available user groups, depending on what the user must accomplish in VSP One Block Administrator.

  • You must have the Security Administrator (View & Modify) role.
  1. From the navigation tree, select Settings > User Settings > User Administration to launch the maintenance utility.
  2. In the maintenance utility, click Create User.
  3. Complete the following user account information.
    • User name

Specify a value consisting of 1 to 256 characters using only the following characters:

      Alphanumeric characters and symbols

      ! # $ % & ' * + - . / = ? @ ^ _ ` { | } ~

User accounts with user names containing / cannot open the command console fromVSP One Block Administrator.

    • Account Status

Specifies if the account can be used (enabled) or not (disabled).

    • Authentication

Specifies whether user authentication uses a dedicated password (local) or uses an authentication service (external).

      • For Local authentication, create a password.

Specify a value consisting of 6 to 63 characters using only the following characters:

Alphanumeric characters and ASCII symbols which can be entered in except space

        ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~

      • For External authentication, ensure that the system has been registered with an Identity Provider.

An Identity Provider (IdP) is a centralized authentication service that manages user identities and provides secure access to systems. Instead of requiring users to maintain separate credentials for different systems in your environment, the IdP issues trusted authentication tokens that are recognized across the network.

    • User group

Select a user group for which the roles required for each task have been set and to which all resource groups have been assigned. The following lists built-in user groups and their roles.
