You can view details about the pools that have already been created for you. Pool information is important for determining where and how many volumes to create.
You must have the Storage Administrator (View Only) role.
- From the navigation tree, select Mainframe Storage > Pools.
- On the Mainframe Pools page, click Customize columns to show the columns you want to view.
- Based on the following columns, determine which pools you want to add volumes to.
- Name
- ID
- Status. Options:
- Normal: Pool is functioning as expected. Capacity usage is below the warning threshold.
- Exceeded Threshold: Pool has surpassed the critical threshold. Capacity is critically low, and expansion might be required immediately.
- Error: Pool is full.
- Partially Blocked: Pool cannot accept new allocations. Usually triggered when capacity is exhausted or a threshold exceeds the safety limit.
- Unknown: Pool status is unknown because the pool is blocked.
When ExceededThreshold or Error and Blocked occur simultaneously, "Blocked" might be shown alongside in a comma-separated format like [Blocked,ExceededThreshold] or [Error,Blocked].
- Total: Total capacity of the pool
- Effective: Usable capacity
- Used: Capacity that is used
- Used %: Usage rate as a percentage of total capacity minus used capacity
- Free: Total capacity minus used capacity
- Free %: Pool free space as a percentage of free capacity relative to effective capacity
- Warning Threshold %: Percentage of pool capacity usage at which the system issues a warning alert
- Depletion Threshold %: Percentage of pool capacity usage at which the system considers the pool critically low on free space
- Current Subscription %: Percentage of the total virtual volume capacity currently dedicated to the pool
- Subscription Limit Value %: Percentage of the reserved physical capacity relative to the virtual capacity assigned to volumes in the pool
- Encryption. Options:
- Enabled: Pool encryption enabled
- Disabled: Pool encryption unavailable
- Mixed: Mixed states of enabled and unavailable encryption
- Unknown (Incl. Ext Vol): Pool encryption status is unknown due to an external volume present
- Unknown: Pool encryption status is unknown due to the presence of an external volume
- Number of Volumes: Number of virtual volumes associated with the pool
