When a volume is used in a global active device (GAD) environment, the storage system maintains virtual information such as the virtual ID, virtual model, virtual serial number, and the GAD reservation attribute. You must reset the virtual information for the volume before reusing the volume.

Warning:
  • If a volume with the same virtual information exists on another storage system and that virtual information matches the real information of the volume to be deleted, deleting the volume might cause data loss or data inconsistency.
  • Virtual information cannot be reset in VSP One Block Administrator for volumes that use manual virtualization mode. For details, see the Global-Active Device User Guide.
  • Delete the GAD pair before resetting the virtual information.
  • Unassign the volume from servers.
  • Verify that no other storage system contains a volume with the same virtual information by using the CCI raidcom command.
  1. From the navigation tree, select Storage > Volumes.
  2. From the volume list, select the volume that was previously used as a GAD volume.
  3. On the volume details page, in the action bar, click Reset Virtual Information.
  4. In the warning dialog box, review the message carefully, and then click Submit to reset the virtual information.
