The following core building blocks represent the main functional modules available in the iQ Studio user interface.

The iQ Studio home page displays four primary modules, each corresponding to a core functional component of the platform. These modules AI agents, tools, knowledge base, and data estate browser works together to deliver accurate and context aware responses in iQ Studio.
Note: The components available in the interface depend on your assigned role. You may not see all the areas described in this section. For example, agent builders can access all four areas, including the Data Estate Browser, while agent users only see AI Studio and the agent catalog. For details, see Roles and permissions.

AI agents

Decision making components that process user queries and orchestrate tasks. They rely on tools such as MCP servers, APIs, and connectors to perform external actions like web searches or data retrieval. Worker agents use tools and knowledge bases to execute domain specific actions. Supervisor agents coordinate multiple worker agents, assign tasks, and aggregate results.

Tool library

Allows you to create and manage MCP servers, web connectors, and other integrations so agents can perform actions such as web searches, API calls, and data retrieval.

Knowledge base

Provides curated content from your unstructured business documents that agents use for retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and ensuring responses are grounded in real documents.

Data estate browser

Connects to data sources and lets you manage and explore assets across object storage systems supporting the S3 protocol.

Administrator

Provides centralized controls to manage users, system settings, AI models, and platform integrations in iQ Studio. It supports organization wide governance by enabling control over access, security configuration, model availability, and agent related system operations.

Guardrails

Guardrails help Administrators make sure that large language models (LLMs) in iQ Studio operate safely and follow organizational policies. Guardrails check input and output text in real time and prevent unsafe behavior, such as sharing sensitive information, generating harmful content, and responding to prompts that try to bypass system rules. Administrators can enable and configure guardrails for each model. Guardrails are not enabled by default.
