Create a tiered storage pool, which is a combination of system drives from high-performance storage, such as flash memory, and system drives from lower-performance storage, such as SAS or NL SAS.
- Go to Dashboard, and then click Create Storage Pool.
- On the Choose Storage Pool Type page, click Create in the A Tiered Storage Pool tile.
- Complete the following information to configure the pool:
- Storage Pool Name
- Enter a name for the storage pool. The prefix shown was defined in the setup configuration.
- Primary Site
- Select the primary array where the data is intended to be stored. The other array hosts the replica and is known as secondary.
- Warning Threshold Size (%)
- Enable or disable the warning threshold percentage for the storage pool. If this option is enabled and the specified capacity threshold percentage is met, an alarm is shown on the Job Manager > Issues tab as described in Monitoring and correcting issues. For example, if this value is set to 80, a warning is issued if the capacity reaches 80%.
- The default is 90.
- Tier 0 and Tier 1
- Configure the following information for the two tiers of the storage pool:
- Tier 0 will host the metadata. The best-performing storage should be designated as Tier 0.
- Tier 1 will host the user data.
-
- Source Array Storage Pool ID
- Select the ID of the pool in the source (or primary) storage array. When the ID for the source and target pool are selected, the available capacity for that pool is shown.
- Volumes
- Select the number of volumes for the arrays. A minimum of four volumes is required. These are the equivalent to VSP One File system drives.
- The default is 8.
- (Optional) Click Add Another Pool to create another pool.
- Click Create.
