Configure Veeam Backup and Replication Scale-Out Backup Repositories with VSP One Object

Veeam Backup & Replication offers various recovery options, including instant, full, and granular restores. We will perform Instant Recovery, which enables quick migration and restoration across environments with minimal downtime. Veeam runs workloads from compressed backup files, improving recovery time objectives (RTO) and ensuring systems are brought back online in minutes.

  1. In Veeam Backup & Replication, navigate to Backups > Object Storage, locate your backup job, and expand the list of VMs.
  2. Right-click the VM to restore and select Instant recovery.
  3. In the Instant recovery wizard, select Restore to the original location. This option skips the placement configuration step and takes you directly to the Reason step. Provide a reason for performing instant recovery if required, review the summary, and click Finish to start the restore.
  4. Navigate to the Home panel and review the restore job. The Instant Recovery option appears in the Home panel.
  5. Right-click Instant Recovery and select Migrate to Production.
  6. In the Migrate to Production wizard, specify the destination for the data to be restored. then click Next.
  7. Select how you want to manage the files in the destination location, then click Next.
  8. Select a file share Switchover type, then click Next.
  9. Review the summary of the settings, then click Finish.
  10. Verify that the VM is available on the target host after the restore completes.
