Configuring scale-out backup repository

Configure Veeam Backup and Replication Scale-Out Backup Repositories with VSP One Object

Configure a scale-out backup repository in Veeam Backup & Replication.

  1. In the Backup Infrastructure pane, right-click Scale-out Repositories, and then select Add scale-out backup repository.
  2. Enter a name for the scale-out backup repository.
  3. Select the backup repositories that you want to add as a performance tier. These repositories will be scaled to the S3 storage repository.
    1. In the Performance Tier wizard, click Add.
    2. In the Extents window, select backup repositories.
    3. Click OK.
  4. Select Data locality to store full and incremental backup files on the same performance extents of the scale-out backup repository.
  5. Configure secondary backups for long term storage using object storage.
    1. Select Extend scale-out backup repository capacity with object storage.
    2. Click Choose to select the Veeam storage repository where you want to offload backup data.
    3. Select the scale-out backup repository that you created in steps 1-3.
    4. (Optional) Configure additional offload options, as needed:
      • Select Copy backups to object storage as soon as they are created to copy new backups to object storage immediately.
      • Select Move backups to object storage as they age out of the operational restore window to move older backups to object storage when they age out of the operational restore window.
  6. Complete the remaining wizard steps, then click Finish.
  7. Verify that the added scale-out backup repository is available under Backup Infrastructure > Scale-Out Repositories.
