If a failure occurs when an operation to start or shut down the storage cluster is performed, troubleshoot the failure as described in the following table.

Symptom

Action

The VSP One SDS Block Administrator, REST API, and CLI of VSP One SDS Block do not become available after 30 minutes elapsed after startup of the storage cluster was tried.

Stop the storage cluster, and then restart the storage cluster. Contact customer support.

If the problem persists after restarting the storage cluster, collect dump log files, and then contact customer support.

The cluster is placed in one of the following statuses:

  • StartFailed

  • Blockage

  • BlockageDueToFailuresExceedingRedundancyLimit

Take action according to the solution for the event log message.

  • When no event log prompting you to take recovery action is output, stop the storage cluster as described in Forcibly stopping the storage cluster in the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration. If you changed settings of control network, compute network and internode network that composes VSP One SDS Block, verify that no unexpected changes were made. After that, start the storage cluster again as described in Starting the storage cluster for the applicable model in the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration.

If the problem persists after restarting the storage cluster, collect dump log files, and then contact customer support.

  • If the following event logs are output, wait for at least 45 minutes before taking any action. Otherwise, the problem might not be resolved:

    KARS07301-C, KARS08121-E, KARS08122-E, and KARS08124-C.

In this case, wait 45 minutes or more again and then shut down the storage cluster according to Forcibly stopping the storage cluster in the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration. After that, start the storage cluster again as described in Starting the storage cluster for the applicable model in the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration.

If the problem persists after waiting 45 minutes or more and then performing the preceding actions, collect dump log files, and then contact customer support.

The storage cluster status is other than the above and either of the following is met after 175 minutes have passed since you tried to start the storage cluster.

  • An event indicating completion of startup of the storage cluster is not output in the event log list.

  • The status is not Ready when information of the storage cluster is viewed in VSP One SDS Block Administrator, REST API or CLI.

Stop the storage cluster, and then restart the storage cluster. Contact customer support.

If the problem persists after restarting the storage cluster, collect dump log files, and then contact customer support.

An event log (KARS08103-E) was output when starting a storage cluster.

Wait until storage cluster starting is completed. After storage cluster starting is completed, take action according to the solution in the event log (KARS08103-E).

(Cloud for Microsoft Azure) An event log (KARS08332-W) was output when starting a storage cluster.

Wait until storage cluster starting is completed. If storage cluster starting is successful and KARS08100-I is output, no action is required. If KARS08100-I is not output, contact Azure support.

At least one storage node is not shut down after 90 minutes elapsed after shutdown of the storage cluster was tried.

Stop the storage cluster. Contact customer support. If you start the storage cluster again, follow the customer support instruction.

When you start the storage cluster, if an event log indicating a snapshot error is output, take action as described in Action to be taken if KARS06132-C occurs when starting the storage cluster.
