If an operation to configure a storage cluster, add storage nodes, or replace storage nodes is unsuccessful, you must reperform the operation later. If switchover of spare nodes is unsuccessful, you might have to perform storage node replacement to restore the target storage nodes. In this case, depending on the execution conditions of operations and processes, you might be able to skip storage software installation and setup of each storage node, including their subsequent steps. This section describes the procedure for determining whether you need to reperform storage software installation and setup of each storage node for the storage nodes on which operations are in progress or processes did not succeed.
For each operation-target storage node, reperform the storage software installation and storage node setup tasks, according to the procedure described in this section.
The following table shows the storage nodes for which you must use the described procedure to determine whether you need to reperform storage software installation and setup of each storage node, for each operation in progress or process that did not succeed.

1 Storage nodes can only be replaced one at a time irrespective of storage cluster configuration. 2 You need to perform the described procedure only if you are requested to replace storage nodes in an event log message or in this document. |
|
Perform the following procedure for all target storage nodes.
If a procedure step must be performed for multiple storage nodes, you can perform the step for multiple storage nodes in parallel.
In a storage cluster in which the spare node function is used, performing spare node switchover automatically switches the physical server of a storage node. When performing operations or maintenance for the physical server of a storage node, confirm the following to verify that the target physical server is correct.
-
The physical server of a spare node is applied to a storage node. When physical server switchover completes, an event log is output for notification.
-
You can obtain the connection information about the BMCs mounted on the physical servers of storage nodes by performing the procedure described in Obtaining BMC information about individual storage nodes (Bare metal) in the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration. By using the obtained information, you can connect to the BMC on the storage node and verify the physical server information of a storage node. If there is an error in the settings, an event log is output. For the BMC setting verification procedure, see Verifying the spare node function settings (Bare metal) in the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration.
