Use the console interface to verify the IP address of the control network and change the settings.

This procedure is referenced from Action to be taken for a failure when changing or setting configuration information (Bare metal).

The network setting values to be verified are determined in Action to be taken for a failure when changing or setting configuration information (Bare metal). Ensure that you are performing Action to be taken for a failure when changing or setting configuration information (Bare metal).

CAUTION:

In input mode, you can enter only the following characters and keys in input fields:

  • Numbers (0-9)

  • Uppercase letters (A-Z), lowercase letters (a-z)

  • Symbols (! “ # $ % & ‘ ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~ )

If you enter characters or keys other than the above, the screen might not be displayed correctly. If that is the case, display another screen and then redisplay the target screen.

  • Required role: Service

  • The user must be permitted to use the console interface (isEnabledConsoleLogin is enabled).

  1. Log in to the console interface of the storage node according to the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration.
  2. Confirm that the [Set control network settings] menu is displayed on the Storage node console top menu screen. If the [Set control network settings] menu is not displayed, collect the following information and contact customer support:
    • VSP One SDS Block dump log files

Collect dump log files from all storage nodes from which dump log files can be collected.

    • Screen log of commands run for changing or setting configuration information

Collect a screen log of all operations performed since the configuration information was first changed or set.

    • CLI log of the controller node

  3. In the Storage node console top menu screen, select the [Set control network settings] menu (use the arrow keys to position the cursor at the menu, and then press the [Enter] key).
  4. In the [Set control network settings] window, verify that the following setting values are correct and change them if necessary. When you finish confirmation and/or modification, select [OK].

Item name on the [Set management port settings] window

Item name or information in the corresponding VSSB configuration file

    IP address

    ControlNWIPv4

    Subnet mask

    ControlNWIPv4Subnet

    MTU

    ControlNWMTUSize

    Routing table

When a set of routing settings consists of ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteDestination X, ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteGateway X, and ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteInterface X (X is the same number), the number of sets in which the ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteInterface X value is "control."

    Note:
    • If the value you entered does not meet the input rules, an error message appears at the bottom of the window. If you see an error message, verify the contents, and then enter the correct value.

    • The network setting values to be verified are determined in Action to be taken for a failure when changing or setting configuration information (Bare metal). Ensure that you perform Action to be taken for a failure when changing or setting configuration information (Bare metal).

  5. In the [Set control network settings (Routing setting)] window, verify whether the routing settings for the control port are correct and change them if necessary.

Depending on the number of routing settings that you have entered in the [Set control network settings] window, the [Set control network settings (Routing setting)] window might continue for up to four screens. You can select [OK] on the last screen.

When you finish confirmation and/or modification, select [Next] or [OK].

Item name on the [Set control network settings (Routing setting)] window

Item name in the corresponding VSSB configuration file

    Destination

    ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteDestinationX*

    Gateway

    ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteGatewayX*

    * Assuming that one set consists of ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteDestination X , ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteGateway X , and ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteInterface X (X is the same number), enter all sets in which the ControlInterNodeNWIPv4RouteInterface X value is "control."

The [Confirm control network settings] window appears.

    Note:
    • If the value you entered does not meet the input rules, an error message appears at the bottom of the window. If you see an error message, verify the contents, and then enter the correct value.

    • If you go back to the previous screen by clicking [Previous] while entering information, the information you have entered might be lost. When you return to the screen by clicking [Next] or [OK], verify whether the information is correctly entered.

    • The network setting values to be verified are determined in Action to be taken for a failure when changing or setting configuration information (Bare metal). Ensure that you perform Action to be taken for a failure when changing or setting configuration information (Bare metal).

  6. If you have not changed any network settings so far, you do not need to perform the subsequent steps. Select [Back to top] to return to the Storage node console top menu window, and then select [Logout].

If you have changed any network settings, go to the next step.

  7. Confirm the information displayed on the [Confirm control network settings] window.

The [Confirm control network settings] window might continue for up to five screens. On the last screen, [Submit] can be selected.

If you are satisfied with the settings, select [Submit] to apply the settings. If the setup is successful, you will be automatically returned to the Storage node console top menu window.

It might take about 40 seconds to return to the Storage node console top menu window after selecting [Submit].

    Note:

If an error occurs due to invalid settings or other reasons, an error message is output at the bottom of the window. If you see an error message, verify the contents. To correct setting values, go back to the previous screen by clicking [Previous], and then correct the values you have entered.

  8. In the Storage node console top menu screen, select [Logout] to log out.

When logout is successful, the Keyboard layout configuration screen appears.

    CAUTION:
    • When you have completed all tasks with the console interface, always log out.

If you exit the BMC remote console without logging out, you will remain logged in. If you access the BMC remote console again in this state, the logged-in screen might be displayed.

    • When you are using Hitachi Advanced Server HA800 series, HA800 G2 series, HA800 G3 series, or HA800 G6 series, log out if your attention will be away from the console interface screen for any period during console interface operation.

When multiple users attempt to connect to the iLO remote console (HTML5 Console), iLO7 opens the remote console in a separate tab, while iLO6 and earlier versions display a dialog notifying of simultaneous remote connections. By interacting with the dialog, you can reject the connection of the later-connecting user. However, if no action is taken, the later-connecting user is granted access, potentially making the login window operable.

    • When you are using Hitachi Advanced Server HA800 series, HA800 G2 series, HA800 G3 series, or HA800 G6 series, if you do not perform key operation for 30 minutes, you are automatically logged out.

  9. Ping the new IP address from the controller node to verify connectivity.
