This setup guide describes the procedure for configuring the storage cluster of VSP One SDS Block. For how to register a compute node and how to create a volume, see the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration.
If a failure occurs when configuring a storage cluster, take action according to the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud Troubleshooting Reference.
The setup steps are as follows:
Step No. |
Task overview |
Reference |
|---|---|---|
1 |
Check the files that are required for setup. |
2 |
Build a controller node that meets Controller node requirements and configure network settings. |
3 |
Install the CLI program on the controller node. A CLI package (.whl) file is required. |
4 |
Prepare the required number of storage nodes to meet Storage node requirements, and configure the initial settings and network settings. |
5 |
Configure the NTP server for time synchronization. |
Configure the DNS server, if necessary. |
6 |
Edit the configuration file for setting up VSP One SDS Block. |
7 |
Install storage software on the physical servers. |
8 |
Set up each of the storage nodes on which installation of storage software is complete. |
9 |
Configure a storage cluster. You must agree to the EULA of SUSE Linux Enterprise and the EULA of SPDK FC Target Driver. |
10 |
Create an initial user for the storage cluster. |
11 |
Use the initial user that you created to verify the configuration of the storage cluster. |
12 |
Issue an authentication ticket for dumping in the event of a failure. |
13 |
Set the Data at rest encryption to encrypt user data. If you do not enable the user data, this procedure is not necessary. |
