VSP One SDS Block is a storage software product that builds and sets up a virtual storage system from multiple general-purpose servers.

The VSP One SDS Block storage system is two-layer software-defined storage (SDS) in which storage nodes are separated from the compute node.

The following figure shows the configuration of VSP One SDS Block.

BMC network
A network that connects the storage node BMC and the controller node. Use this network to operate the BMC from the controller node. The storage nodes are connected to this network through their BMC ports.
Compute network
A network between the compute nodes and the storage nodes. It is used for input and output of user data.
Compute node
A node that runs the application and instructs input or output of user data to the storage node.
For the compute node installation and connection procedures, see the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration.
Control network
A network between the controller node and the storage nodes. It is used for VSP One SDS Block management operation and communication with external service such as NTP and DNS.
You can use the teaming function that utilizes multiple ports to apply redundant configuration. For more information, see Storage node requirements.
Controller node
An access node used for operating VSP One SDS Block. For more information, see About the controller node.
Internode network
Network between storage nodes. It is used for communication of user data and management information between storage nodes.
Multiple ports in a teaming configuration are used for a redundant configuration. For details about teaming, see Storage node requirements.
Storage node
The physical server that makes up the VSP One SDS Block. For information about the internal configuration of the VSP One SDS Block, including storage nodes, see Internal configuration of VSP One SDS Block.

For details about the DNS server and NTP server as external servers, see the server vendor documentation.
