Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One File environment consists of one or more physical nodes that can host multiple Enterprise Virtual Server (EVS) instances.
The VSP One File management software consists of the following applications. The applications that a user can access depend on the assigned user role.
- System Administrator: Use this application to onboard and remove servers (nodes), perform tasks like configure name services, and back up and restore data.
- File Administrator: Use this application to manage servers and clusters, create and manage file systems, and enable the configuration of file service protocols.
- Keycloak: Use this application to manage users and their access to applications. Keycloak is a third-party software that provides identity and authorization management.
- Hitachi Disaster Recovery Solution: Use this optional application to deploy and maintain 2-node and 4-node stretched clusters across two geographically separate sites and storage arrays. The arrays are synchronized using Global Active Directory (GAD) technology, which ensures that data is mirrored in real time between the sites. Because server memory and stored data are mirrored between the two arrays, GAD provides a zero Recovery Point Objective (RPO) if a single component or complete site fails.
Disaster Recovery Solution is a separate application that is installed and started from File Administrator. Disaster Recovery Solution requires that a GAD Enhanced for NAS (GEfN) license is installed on a VSP One File managed server. You can install the GefN license in one of the following ways:
- Add the license from File Administrator ().
- Install the license while adding a managed server in System Administrator. For more information, see Adding a new managed server.
Monitoring file storage resources from VSP 360
Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform 360 (VSP 360) unifies block, file, object, and software-defined storage into a single, intuitive platform that simplifies data infrastructure management. You can register the VSP One File management software with VSP 360 to monitor file storage resources from the VSP 360 interface.
When the VSP One File management software is registered with VSP 360, you can optionally log into the management software using VSP 360 credentials.
