You can restore the VSP One File management software configuration from a local backup file created in the Hitachi NAS Platform System Management Unit (SMU).
If the NAS Platform System Management Unit manages servers earlier than NAS Platform Series 5000, the backup files are not supported by the VSP One File management software.
CAUTION:
Restoring from a backup overwrites any existing configuration. A restore operation can take several minutes. Once the backup restoration has completed, a system restart is required for the restored configuration to take effect.
Warning: Restarting the system disrupts quorum device services. To prevent loss of service in a clustered configuration while the reboot is performed, make sure that all managed clusters are in a robust state before restarting the system.
Ensure that you have the local backup file (zip file) that you want to restore from and that you have the encryption password for the file. Contact your administrator if you require assistance locating the password.
- In the Restore window, click Upload File and enter the following information:
- In the Upload File page, upload the local backup file, enter the encryption password for the file, and then click Upload File to open the restore wizard.
- In the Connect to Managed Servers page, enter the password for the managed servers, and then click Next.
The managed server list is populated showing the IP addresses of the managed servers. Ensure that you check the username and then enter the associated password to connect to the managed servers.
- In the Restore page, verify the managed server statuses are Robust, accept the prompt that the restore process will move the Hitachi NAS Platform managed servers to the VSP One File quorum device, and then click Restore.
- In the Upload File page, upload the local backup file, enter the encryption password for the file, and then click Upload File to open the restore wizard.
When the restore completes or fails, a status of Successfully restored or Restore Failed is shown as the current status in the Restore pane. You can click View Log to view log information for the restore process. The log information is useful for troubleshooting issues when the restore fails.
