Important: Before you start the workflow, ensure that the VSP One File management software is installed and configured and that managed servers are added as described in the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One File Installation and Configuration Guide.
Complete the tasks in the following table to set up File Administrator. The admin user role is required to complete the tasks in this workflow.
| Step | Task | See |
|---|---|---|
| 1. | Enable system drives as logical units (LUs) to create storage pools. | Enabling a system drive |
| 2. | Create a tiered or untiered storage pool to host virtual servers. A storage pool is the logical container for a collection of four or more system drives. | Creating a tiered storage pool |
| 3. | Create an Enterprise Virtual Server (EVS) to enable client connections to file systems on physical nodes and manage virtualized file and administrative services. Each EVS is assigned unique network settings and storage resources, which gives the flexibility to logically partition access to shared storage resources. | Creating an EVS |
| 4. | Configure IP routes and port link aggregations to connect to the EVS. | Adding an IP route |
| 5. | Create a file system in the EVS to store files and directories. | Creatinga file system |
| 6. | Create virtual volumes from the file system to allocate and control directories for projects, users, or groups. | Creating a virtual volume |
| 7. | Create quotas for the file system to allocate the maximum amount of disk space a user or group can use. | Adding a quota |
| 8. | Configure user, group, or domain mapping for the file system to provide access to UNIX, Windows, NFSv4, and Kerberos users and groups. | Adding user or group mappings |
| 9. | Create an SMB share or an NFS export to give Windows or UNIX users access to the file system. | Creating an SMB share |
| 10. | Configure data migration to move data between two on-premises file systems or between an on-premises file system and object storage. | Migrating data to cloud |
| 11. | For data protection, configure snapshots, replication policies, and NDMP setting for the file system, and add virus scan engines. | Creating a snapshot |
