Monitoring health is crucial to effective system management. The Health dashboard displays key resource information that you can use to quickly monitor system health.

The Health dashboard opens by default when you open File Administrator, but you can open the dashboard at any time from the Dashboards application menu.

The dashboard contains the following reporting and resource management features:

  • Critical Nodes panel: Displays managed server nodes that are in a critical state.
  • Top 10 Environment Utilization panels: Display usage and other metrics for storage resources such as file systems, virtual volumes, system drives, and storage pools. By monitoring usage through the dashboard, you can take actions to reduce usage or determine if additional resources are required before severe issues arise.

For example, the File Storage Pool panel is a centralized location for viewing the storage pools associated a file system. From this panel, you can view usage metrics that help you to avoid performance issues, such as the system slowing down or halting, when the usage nears or exceeds thresholds.

If system drives in a storage system are shared by file and block storage pools, you can monitor the capacity for both pool types from the Block Storage Pool panel. To monitor block storage pools, you must first register the storage systems that are associated with the pools as described in Registering a block storage system. The block storage systems must be VSP One Block 20 series or later systems.

  • Quick Actions panel: Provide options to create and manage file systems, virtual volumes, system drives, storage pools, and other resources managed by File Administrator.

Viewing panels in a table or grid format
