On the old server:
- In the File management software, log in as administrator.
- In the welcome screen, click File Administartor.
- In the upper left corner, select the desired cluster from the list.
- If the server is online, navigate to Configuration > Server > Backup and Restore.
- Click Backup Nowand then download the backup file.
Ensure that you save the backup file to a safe location off the platform so that you can access it after the storage system is taken offline. In addition, verify the validity of the backup file by running a 7-zip (or other utility) archive test.

For a node in a cluster,
migrate the EVSs to an alternate node.
- From the File Administrator, navigate to Provisioning > Virtual Server > Enterprise Virtual Server.
- Select the EVSs residing on the Node to be replaced and the Click Migrate.
- In the Migrate EVS pane, select the another node as the destination node.
- Download the Diagnostic Logs.
- From the File Administrator, Navigate to Troubleshooting > Diagnostic Logs.
- Check the boxes for Managed NAS Servers, System Administrator and the radio button for Include Only the Currently Managed Server.
- Click Prepare Logs to retrieve the diagnostic logs.
The diagnostic log will start downloading automatically.
- Navigate to Configuration > System > System Overview and verify the existing server firmware release level.
The server firmware version on the new server must match the failed server otherwise the server cannot properly restore from the backup file. See the Release Notes for release-specific requirements.
- Navigate to Configuration > System > License Keys to check the license keys to ensure you have the correct set of new license keys.

- IP addresses for Ethernet ports 0 and 1
- Gateway
- Domain name
- Host name
