You can configure the storage systems for TrueCopy by adding a remote connection from the primary to the secondary storage system.

Adding the connection and setting up remote paths prepares the systems for TC commands and operations.

Depending on the system configuration, remote connection from the secondary storage system to the primary storage system is also added. Perform this procedure on the primary storage system.

CAUTION:

Do not add or delete a remote connection or add a remote path at the same time that the SCSI path definition function is in use.

  • The local and remote systems must be ready for TC operations. See Storage system preparation.
  • The data path must be set up. See Data path requirements and configurations.
  • The remote system serial number, LDKC, controller ID, path group ID, and port numbers are required.
  • When using virtual storage machine volumes, make sure to specify the physical serial number of the storage system, not the serial number of the virtual storage machine.
  1. When you use iSCSI for the data path, register the iSCSI target port to the iSCSI port. When you use Fibre Channel for the data path, go to step 2.

Register the secondary storage system port (CL2-A) to the primary storage system port (CL1-A).

Command example (CL2-A is IP address 158.214.135.100):

    # raidcom add rcu_iscsi_port -port CL1-A -rcu_port CL2-A -rcu_id
    822222 M800 -rcu_address 158.214.135.100

  2. Add a remote connection with path group ID 0 from the primary storage system port (CL1-A) to the secondary storage system port (CL2-A).

    Command example:

    # raidcom add rcu -cu_free 822222 M800 0 -mcu_port CL1-A -rcu_port
    CL2-A -IH0

  3. Confirm that the processing ended successfully.

    Command example:

    # raidcom get command_status -IH0
    HANDLE SSB1 SSB2 ERR_CNT Serial# Description
    00c3 - - 0 811111 -

  4. Display the information about the remote connection on the primary storage system.

    Command example:

    raidcom get rcu -cu_free 822222 M800 0 -IH0
Serial# ID PID MCU RCU M/R T PNO MPORT RPORT STS_CD SSIDs ...
    822222 M8 0 - - RCU F 0 CL1-A CL2-A NML_01 –
