  1. At the primary site, bring up the host. Make sure that TC components are operational.
  2. At the primary site, delete all pairs on the primary storage system.
You can use the raidcom delete remote_copy_pair CCI command to delete pairs.
  3. At the primary site, remove the settings for the secondary storage system at the remote site (for example, remote paths).
  4. On the primary and secondary storage systems, change path and port settings.
    • To use the same switches, change the operating mode to the opposite direction.
    • To use the same extenders, change the operating mode to the opposite direction. The boxes/nodes connected to the primary storage system must be set to channel-mode, and the boxes/nodes connected to the secondary storage systems must be set to device-mode.
  5. At the secondary site, set TrueCopy operations in the reverse direction.
  6. At the secondary site, create TC pairs in the reverse direction, and synchronize the old P-VOL with the S-VOL.
Execute the paircreate command without the -nocopy option. Confirm that the pairs are created and that the status is PAIR.

If a failure occurs after the one volume capacity of a TC pair can be expanded, the swap resync operation of the TC pair cannot be performed because the capacity of both the volumes is not the same. Make sure to expand the other volume capacity so that the capacity of both the volumes is the same, and then retry the operation.

  7. On the secondary storage system, stop host operations and vary the P-VOL (old S-VOL) offline. This maintains synchronization of the pairs.
  8. At the secondary storage system, split the pairs and destage held data from cache.
You can use the raidcom modify remote_copy_pair CCI command to split pairs.

If a failure occurs after the capacity of one volume in a TC pair was expanded, the swap resync operation of the TC pair cannot be performed because the capacity of both the volumes is not the same. Make sure to expand the other volume capacity so that the capacity of both the volumes is the same, and then retry the operation.

  9. At the secondary storage system, delete all TC pairs.
You can use the raidcom delete remote_copy_pair CCI command to delete pairs. You do not need to set the -forcible option in the command.

Confirm that the pairs are deleted and status is SMPL before proceeding. If an error occurs, resolve it before proceeding.

  10. At the primary and secondary systems, change the path and port settings.
    • To use the same switches, change the operating mode back to the original direction.
    • To use the same channel extenders, change the operating mode back to the original direction. The boxes/nodes connected to the primary storage system must be set to channel-mode, and the boxes/nodes connected to the secondary storage systems must be set to device-mode.
  11. At the primary storage system, check that it is ready to create TrueCopy pairs.
  12. At the primary storage system, create TrueCopy pairs or set TrueCopy pairs to the original direction.
If all P-VOLs and S-VOLs are synchronized, execute the paircreate command with the -nocopy option.
If a failure occurs after the one volume capacity of a TC pair can be expanded, the swap resync operation of the TC pair cannot be performed because the capacity of both volumes is not the same. Make sure to expand the other volume capacity so that the capacity of both the volumes is the same, and then retry the operation.
  13. Vary the primary system and P-VOLs online, and start host operations.
