The storage system uses differential tables and pair tables to manage pairs:
- Differential tables manage the differential bitmaps that record data updates while a pair is split or suspended.
- Pair tables contain the information needed to manage SI pairs, including the differential tables. The storage system can use a single pair table to manage up to 36 differential tables.
ShadowImage, ShadowImage for Mainframe, and Volume Migration use differential tables and pair tables.
