You can use a combination of the QoS upper-limit, lower-limit, and priority controls for a volume.
If multiple control settings are configured, the setting conditions might not be met at the same time depending on the settings and the I/O patterns. In that case, the QoS controls are enabled in the order of the upper- limit control, the lower-limit control, and the priority control.
For example, in the following conditions, the I/O processing on a volume with high priority takes precedence:
- A volume with high priority and a volume with medium priority coexist.
- A lower limit is also set for the volume with medium priority and the lower limit is met.
On the other hand, in the following conditions, the I/O processing on a volume with medium priority might take precedence by using the lower-limit control.
- A volume with high priority and a volume with medium priority coexist.
- A lower limit is also set for the volume with medium priority, but the lower limit is not met.
