You can use an encrypted volume in the external storage system as a quorum disk.5

Notes:

  1. A DP-VOL that uses an external volume as its pool volume can be used as a GAD P-VOL or S-VOL.
  2. For a node volume or leaf volume of Thin Image Advanced, see the description of the S-VOL, not the P-VOL.
  3. If you set the S-VOL Disable attribute of Data Retention Utility to a GAD S-VOL, GAD pair operations using CCI are restricted. Release the S-VOL Disable attribute on the GAD S-VOL, and then perform the GAD pair operations.
  4. Quorum disks can be set only on external volumes that have been configured so that one external volume group is mapped to one external volume.
  5. You cannot encrypt a non-encrypted quorum disk in an external storage system from the primary or secondary storage system.
  6. A GAD S-VOL is used as a P-VOL of a UR delta resync pair.
  7. For details about the supported firmware versions and the supported models for a configuration with GAD and UR, see Requirements and restrictions.
  8. If a volume connected to a host via NVMe-oF is used as a pair volume, a configuration with Universal Replicator is not supported.
  9. A volume connected to a host using NVMe-oF is available as a GAD pair volume.
  10. You cannot use a volume that makes up a UR pair with a VSP One SDS Block volume as a GAD pair volume.
