Note the following when planning to migrate the UR environment using GAD:
- The UR environment migration is possible by using GAD only in the configuration with the limited models and DKCMAIN microcode versions at the source UR primary site and at the target UR primary site. There are no restrictions on the combinations of the models and DKCMAIN microcode versions at the UR secondary site.
The following table specifies the supported configurations for volume migration when the target storage system is VSP One Block 85.
Source storage system Target storage system VSP 5100, 5200, 5500, 5600 (90-09-29 or later)
VSP One Block 85
The following table specifies the supported configurations for volume migration when the target storage system is VSP One Block 20 series.
Source storage system Target storage system Storage system DKCMAIN version Storage system DKCMAIN version VSP E590, VSP E790, VSP E990 93-06-61 or later VSP One B26, VSP One B28
A3-03-01 or later VSP E1090 93-07-27 or later VSP One B20 series A3-04-21 or later VSP G/F350, G/F370, G/F700, G/F900 88-08-16 or later VSP One B24 A3-04-21 or later 88-05-01 or later VSP One B26, VSP One B28 A3-03-01 or later VSP G200, G/F400, G/F600, G/F800 and 83-06-25 or later VSP One B26, VSP One B28 A3-04-01 or later - After starting operations on the target UR site to which the disaster recovery system is connected, remove the source UR environment.
- Each UR journal group provides the different consistency management at the source and target UR sites. The restoration cannot be linked between the source and the target UR sites.
- Only the UR pairs in the configuration with one primary site and one secondary site can be migrated. The UR delta resync pairs cannot be migrated.
- When the target volumes are shared with software other than UR, you can use this function if the software can share the same volumes with GAD. Even during the migration by using this function, the combination of GAD and other software, or UR and other software is not affected.
- A 3DC configuration with GAD, UR, and Delta Resync UR cannot be created from the configuration in the process of the migration. Use this function only for the UR environmental migration.
- The secondary journal group at the source UR site and the secondary journal group of the target UR site cannot be shared. Prepare a secondary journal group different from the one at the source UR site at the target UR site.
- When migrating UR pairs using GAD, you can use VSM manual configuration only. VSM auto-configuration cannot be used.
