You can migrate data in a GAD+UR pair to a new storage system without stopping I/O operations from the host while keeping the same GAD+UR configuration. If a volume connected to a host via NVMe-oF is used as a GAD pair volume, the procedures for migrating the environment described in this chapter are not supported.

Note: I/O operations from the host need to be temporarily stopped if switching to the redundant path is not available. For example, depending on the specifications of the high-level configuration of the storage system (including the operating system and the multi-path software), the path to a different WWN might not be recognized as the redundant path.

If you perform planned outage of the storage system at the source GAD primary site, perform the following procedures before or after migrating data.

Note the following about figures:

  • A UR delta resync pair is indicated by the dashed arrow with a UR notation.
  • An arrow always starts from the primary volume and ends at the secondary volume.
