The procedures for recovering from a failure in a GAD+UR pair assume that you have completed creating the target UR pair (see Creating the target UR pair). If you are in a subsequent migration procedure after creating the target UR pair, complete that migration procedure by following Moving operations to the target GAD+UR environment and starting operations, and then perform the recovery procedure on the source and target GAD+UR environments.
If you have not completed creating the target UR pair, skip the recovery procedures for a pair that does not exist in your configuration.
The following sets of procedures are examples. The procedures to verify the pair status after the pair operations are omitted. The pair status after a failure occurs and the recovery procedures might differ depending on the progress of migration and host I/O load. For details about the procedures for when your situation is different from the following procedures, see Disaster recovery when migrating GAD pairs.
