The following procedure is for recovering from a system down failure of the storage system at the source GAD secondary site.

  1. If a failure occurred temporarily at the source GAD secondary site, turn on the power of the storage system at the source GAD secondary site, and then remove the cause of the failure.
    The pair status for the P-VOL and S-VOL of the different pairs will be as follows:
    • For the source GAD pair: PSUE(Local) for the P-VOL and PSUE(Block) for the S-VOL
    • For the source UR pair: PAIR for both the P-VOL and S-VOL
    • For the temporary GAD pair for migration: COPY for both P-VOL and the S-VOL or PAIR for both P-VOL and S-VOL.
    Note: When the initial copy of the temporary GAD pair used for migration is complete after the source GAD pair is suspended, the pair status changes to PAIR.


  2. You can perform one of the following:
  3. Suspend the temporary GAD pair used for migration.
    Command example:
    pairsplit -g HA20 -IH01


  4. Resynchronize the source GAD pair.
    Command example:
    pairresync -g HA00 -IH01


  5. Verify that the pair status of the source GAD pair becomes PAIR.
    Command example:
    pairdisplay -g HA00 -fcxe -IH01


  6. Resume host I/Os to the source GAD secondary site.


  7. Resynchronize the temporary GAD pair used for migration.
    Command example:
    pairresync -g HA20 -IH01


    Note: For VSP One B85, the status of the target GAD pair volumes in this figure is COPY.
  8. Continue the migration procedure.
